A Look at David Nash Book – 52 Prepper’s Projects for Parents and Kids – Book Review
I have followed David Nash for some time now. I found him through his YouTube channel, Shepherd School
channel.
What I liked about his videos is they are not regurgitated information. He provides interesting tutorials, I have never seen before. He was also on season 3 of Doomsday Prepper, showing his Geodesic Dome.
That video can be seen here:
Since he consistently provides new material, it is not a great leap for him to also be an author. I purchased the book 52 Prepper Project’s For Parents and Kids, for the purpose of getting ideas to an upcoming prepper scavenger hunt. David currently has four books availible, and he is working on a foraging book now. You can view his Amazon author page here.
The scavenger hunt will require the kids to complete a task (involving a skill) before presented a clue to the next target area. I have always wanted to check out one of his books, and this provided a good excuse to get one.
About the book:
Before I give my opinion, the purpose is not to provide the contents of the book, rather my overall view of it.
This is the first book I have purchased from David. My first question I was curious about is why 52? I was immediately answered. There are 52 weeks in a year. This provides a weekly activity. OK. Smart idea.
The book flows very well. I like how he presents clearly the required items, directions, usage, and more importantly Lessons Learned.
For me, the lessons learned section is the more critical regarding why I like the book.
Before common core, as students we were pressed to ask “Why” and understand the reasoning behind actions. David does a good job on providing the lessons behind the projects he presents in the book. I have always been candid in my view of question everything. For me, this was a win. Especially when the contents of the book allows its readers (primarily the parents) to have something to share and work with their kids.
The book provides good content. Again, there are items here I have not seen before. The projects do appear to be geared for the younger children (in my opinion). That’s OK, but it should be noted.
The cover and paper are of good stock and does not feel cheap.
Two thumbs up!
